Second Arrest Made In Kidnappings by 2 Who Posed as Police

D.C. police have charged a second suspect in a series of abductions and robberies committed by large men who pretended to be police officers.
Rodorrio Kittrell, 33, turned himself in Tuesday, a day after officers charged his alleged partner, Caliss Johnson, 41, with the abductions in Northwest and Northeast Washington.
Police believe the men flashed official-looking badges and guns before they accosted their victims. They stole bank cards and used them to get cash, police said, and also fondled female victims. Police said the men were easier to identify and apprehend than the average suspect because of their girth -- Johnson weighs about 350 pounds and Kittrell about 250.
The suspects were taken into custody after police released surveillance footage of one of the men using a bank machine in Maryland. Both were held without bond yesterday after they appeared in D.C. Superior Court.
When Johnson was arrested, he admitted he was involved in all three recent kidnappings and robberies and told investigators that Kittrell was his partner in two of the crimes, according to charging documents filed in court.
The documents say that in one of the crimes, on Friday, the suspects approached a couple as they sat in a car in front of a hotel on Fourth Street NE. The suspects showed a badge and displayed guns, then asked the man for his driver's license and registration, according to the documents.
They handcuffed the man, then went with the couple to their rented room. The suspects took a bank card from the man and made him tell the female victim his personal identification number, the documents say. The suspects then drove the female victim to a bank machine, and they completed five transactions, the papers say.
They drove the woman around the city for a while, stole money from her, then released her, according to the charging papers.
The first abduction happened a day earlier, about 12:15 a.m. in the 3000 block of M Street NW, in the heart of Georgetown, when a man with a badge stopped a woman and accused her of driving a stolen car. He put the woman in his car, threatened her with a gun and used her bank card to withdraw money before releasing her, police said.
The last abduction happened about 1:15 a.m. Sunday near 13th and K streets NW. The men pulled alongside a car at a traffic light and told the couple that they were being arrested for speeding, police said. The robbers used the male victim's bank card to withdraw money and buy gasoline and then released the pair, police said.
Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey said yesterday that the crimes stood out because the assailants preyed on unsuspecting victims and pretended to be police officers.
"Police impersonation is something we're always concerned about because they catch people off guard," Ramsey said in an interview on Washington Post Radio.
Investigators have not recovered the badges or gun used in the crimes. Ramsey said people can verify that the person pulling them over is an officer by calling 911 and asking the operator to confirm whether it is a legitimate stop. People also could drive at the speed limit to a well-lighted area or the closest police station.
All officers should carry a badge and an identification card, which they must present if asked, he said.

How many years do you think rodorrio kittrell should get in jail for posing as an police officer?
My question is why did the writer of this article feel it was important that these are "large" men? Wouldn't any man in uniform or flashing a badge be imposing (and illegal)? Newswriters need to stay on topic and off-bias.
In answer to your question: These are obviously disturbed individuals who are not going to be rehabilitated. I would advocate life at the very least. We do not need people like this roaming our streets.
Reply:well i put this here because rodorrio kittrell is my father Report It
Reply:Doesn't change my opinon of the situation. But that is too bad. Report It

What do you think are the odds?
I have my passport but my bf doesn't yet. His birth cert. has his moms last name, but then they changed it a few months after his birth to his dads last name. Now ANY piece of ID my bf has, is under his dad's last name. We have to get all of this paperwork done to obtain his legal name change b/c it wasn't 100% done according to the gov's records. I wanted to go to the states for my b-day for one day of shopping. We both called Customs Canada on separate times and explained the situtation. The operator told me it was fine, and when my bf called the operator told him that info was all right to him, but it all depends on the US guard. Now my bf has a photocopy of his live birth with his dad's last name on it. It has all the info and includes both names of his parents. Now I figure with that info, what are our chances of being turned away?
What do you think are the odds?
not that much if you explain the situation and have the documents to prove it chances are theyll let you through.. its a plus if you can speak proper english.......
Reply:I think you should be fine! I got into Canada once without any form of id and they stopped us. It was all cool in the end:)
Reply:A birth certificate isn't good enough anymore. YOU have to have a valid PASSPORT to enter the country. And it takes 6 weeks to 2 months to get one, if, and that is if, ALL paperwork is approved and checks out to issue a Passport.
Odds are ZERO - that you can get in. Or 100% you will be turned away.
Reply:you may get it but will have to go through a lot of red tape. Probably 25%.
Reply:There are no such thing as chances. If God wills it, it will happen.
Reply:you should be fine
Reply:Get the drivers license to match all paperwork and you should be fine
Reply:i just got my passport 11 days after applying at the nearest post office

Coragryph Says New Haven CT Is Breaking No Laws But According To The States Own Web Site They Are, Do You See?
coragryph
They are not disregarding any law.
Federal law prohibits states from enforcing federal immigration laws. CT is not trying to enforce federal immigration laws.
CT is providing a state issued ID for people -- which is completely within its constitutional and statutory rights.
Can you cite what laws you think CT is breaking? The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) issues a Non-Driver Photo Identification Cards (ID) to any applicant who does not possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license or whose Connecticut license is presently under suspension. The applicant must be a Connecticut resident. ID cards are issued three to five years depending on the person's date of birth.
Note: If an applicant ever applies for a Connecticut Driver's License, the identification card must be surrendered when the driver's license is issued.
To obtain an ID card, qualified persons must apply at any Full Service DMV Branch Office, or the Stamford, Willimantic or Winsted Satellite offices (new issue ID cards will not be processed at the Putnam Satellite office, the Photo License Centers/Buses or AAA offices) and present the following:
Your certified Birth Certificate or valid Passport (hospital birth certificates or photocopies will not be accepted) and one additional form of identification from our list of acceptable forms of identification .
Note: If you are not a citizen of the United States , you will be required to show proof of your legal status in this country.
Holders of a B1 or B2 Visitor's Visa are not eligible for a driver's license or identification card unless a valid USCIS Employment Authorization Card and verification of an application pending for Lawful Permanent Residence is provided.
Foreign students with an F1 Visa status must show USCIS document I-20 and verification of current enrollment in a Connecticut school.
J1 Visa holders are required to show USCIS document DS2019.
H1B Visa holders are required to show a valid USCIS Employment Authorization Card and an employee verification letter from a Connecticut employer.
All applicants will be verified through USCIS for legal status before a driver's license/identification card will be issued.
Verification of Connecticut resident address (P.O. Box is not acceptable). Verification may be in the form of a utility bill, mortgage document, lease or rental agreement, or a postmarked letter dated within 90 days if the resident address is the same as the mailing address.
In accordance with the Social Security Act 42 U.S.C. 666 (a) (13), it will be required that the social security number of any applicant applying for an ID card be recorded on the Connecticut Identification Card Requirements and Application (form B-230). Your Social Security number will be verified with the Social Security Administration (SSA) before the ID card is issued. If you do not have a social security number, you must obtain a letter from SSA that states you are not eligible for a social security number. This letter must be submitted to DMV when applying for your ID card.
Completed Connecticut Identification Card Requirements and Application (form B-230). If applicant is under the age of eighteen, a parent, court-appointed legal guardian (certified court documentation must be presented), or spouse over 18 years of age must sign the Connecticut Identification Card Requirements and Application (form B-230).
$15 fee (cash or money order only made payable to the DMV).
Renewals:
DMV will send out renewal notices for ID cards to the current address we have on file. Proceed to any Full Service DMV Branch Office, or the Stamford, Willimantic or Winsted Satellite offices (ID card renewals will not be processed at the Putnam Satellite office, the Photo License Centers/Buses or AAA offices) and present the following:
The renewal notice (if available).
Certified copy of your birth certificate or valid passport (hospital birth certificates or photocopies will not be accepted).
Your ID card, which must be surrendered. If the ID card has been lost you must present one additional form of identification from our list of acceptable forms of identification .
If you are not a citizen of the United States, you will also be required to show proof of your legal status in this country as noted above.
If you have had a name change since your ID card was issued you must present a certified marriage license, certified divorce decree or a certified probate court name change document for name change other than in instances of marriage or divorce.
Verification of Connecticut resident address (P.O. Box is not acceptable). Verification may be in the form of a utility bill, mortgage document, lease or rental agreement, or a postmarked letter (dated within 90 days) if the resident address is the same as the mailing address.
Social Security number, which will be verified with the Social Security Administration (SSA) before the ID card is issued. If you do not have a social security number, you must obtain a letter from SSA that states you are not eligible for a social security number and present this to DMV.
$15 fee (cash or money order only made payable to DMV).
If applicant is under the age of eighteen, a parent, court-appointed legal guardian (certified court documentation must be presented), or spouse over 18 years of age must sign the application.
Duplicates (Replacements):
A person whose ID card has been lost, stolen or damaged may be issued a new identification card by applying at a DMV Full Service office, Satellite office or Photo License Center (not AAA or the Photo License Bus) and must present the following:
Certified copy of your birth certificate or valid passport (hospital birth certificates or photocopies will not be accepted) and one additional form of identification from list of acceptable forms of identification . If you are not a citizen of the United States, you will be required to show proof of legal status in this country as noted above.
$15 fee (cash or money order only made payable to DMV).
Change of Name:
Supporting documentation is required when a name change is requested. Supporting documents are a certified marriage license, certified divorce decree or a certified probate certificate for name change other than in instances of marriage or divorce. There is no fee for a change of name. If your ID is lost, follow the same procedure as noted above for obtaining a duplicate (replacement) ID card and pay the $15 fee.
Suspended Licenses:
A person whose Connecticut operator's license is under suspension may apply for an ID card as long as all of the above requirements are met.
Revoked Licenses:
A person whose privileges have been revoked cannot obtain an ID card.
Coragryph Says New Haven CT Is Breaking No Laws But According To The States Own Web Site They Are, Do You See?
Links would have been sufficient.
IF what you are quoting is actually Connecticut law, and not just DMV policy, then you are correct and I was wrong.
IF Connecticut law requires proof of legal resident status, then New Haven would be violating state laws.
Not having researched Connecticut laws specifically, I don't know if it's just DMV policy, or actually state law.
And not having researched the New Haven proposal, I don't know whether it's a DMV-issued ID card, or something that the city is issuing under some other authority.
That's why it's important to check the actual text of the laws.
Thank you for providing this information.
Reply:throw all illegals out!
Reply:The state's website tells you the requirements to obtain a STATE identification. There is no law that says that city or town identification cards have to meet the state requirements.
Reply:Well, I know that the 9/11 families won a lawsuit against Maryland, I think it was, for giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants due to the REAL ID act requirements. I don't know if that would apply. Then there is the general 'no harboring' provisions of law, as well, which as far as I know have not been tested.
However, Coragryph and I fundamentally disagree on the issue of states' rights, to begin with.

So quick to let everyone know someone was wrong - so what, guess what, we are all human.
Connecticut can do whatever they please and what ever is within their guidelines, so did you have a question for us here?
Reply:Do you have a question? The city of New Haven has begun issuing Resident ID cards to anyone who lives in New Haven regardless of their legal residency.
Mayor DeStefano's new idea to offer this ID program has opened the flood gates for immigration to come in and perform a "random search for immigrants", though this happened on the day after this program was approved.
The mayor basicallly crippled the city for days as people were afraid to leave their homes...citizens or not, whether you agree or not, there are illegal folks here that perform the day to day tasks and jobs that most of us would not do. We all might want to consider two different immigration reform plans: 1 for those already here and how to handle, 2) for anyone new coming to America...
The NewHaven ID Program is to give its residents access to certain immenities that the city has to offer, though in truth? I don't buy it. I think its just another way the local government has found to be local, not global. Most folks who are not citizens are not necessarily interested in checking out a library book, as the mayor has stated as one of its perks, NOR are they interested in using their new ID card to pay for parking - most illegal residents do not posess a drivers license, therefor are not legally driving (why would they want the city to be able to keep track of anyone breaking a law?). Most folks that are here illegally are more interested in putting food on their table, raising their children in a better place and figuring out how to continue life in a normal fashion.
The current policies on residency makes it near impossible for some to become residents. New Haven has taken a huge step sideways and two steps back...maybe the time spent on this project would have been better well spent by going for the senseless gun possession by children and feeding and insuring the hungry, but hardworking families that support the city.

Is truck driving a good career move?
I would like to become a team driver with my husband, we have driven all over the darn place in my car, and the career is very much making us both seriously consider it. We like to drive, we have no problem being on the road alot, we don't have many family commitments, and we want to become owner operators in the end, BUT, we wanted to hear from people doing it to find out if all the things we have been told is true.
A) We know Owner Operator is costly, but we are still leaning toward it for many reasons.
B) We are being told the average is 40k a year for a driver, is this true?
C) Is their anything we really need to be aware of that we are not. We are aware of long hours, many driving hours, being cramped up in the truck together, and so forth, is their something else we need to be aware of before we pay for school?
Is truck driving a good career move?
Truck driving is not a bad choice. You get to see the country and get paid for it. My husband is a driver. I went with him for a couple of years, and found that it is not right for me, though. Something to keep in mind being an O/O: keep about half of the money the two of you earn back for expenses on your truck. If you don't you can become tieds up in a truck that can not be serviced, flat tire, etc. Good luck.
Oh, and by the way, there is good money to be made there. My husband is no longer OTR, and still makes close to 60,000. Teams can make 200,000 or more if they get the miles. And if you really want to make GOOD money, look into driving for a truck dealership. You deliver the trucks, sleep in hotels, fly back. Single driver can make 175,000 per year.
Good luck!
Reply:yeah if you want to become over weight temperamental and loose all of your teeth id say go for it!!! ha ha lol

My older brother is a police officer, me a teacher, my next brother is a business man and the youngest one is a long distance lorry driver ... Guess who is the most happiest and cheerfull living life with no extra worry? ... Yes, the lorry driver and he earns quite a good wage.
Reply:I think the income is more like 60000 for one driver. My son loves it.
Good luck!
Reply:yeah if you want to become over weight temperamental and loose all of your teeth id say go for it!!! ha ha lol

The H & R Block Emerald Card Rip off / wanna raise some h---ll?
emailing calling contacting anyway you can any and every form of media you can in your area to ask them to bring this scam to the public's attention. How they talk you into having your refund direct deposited to their emerald card but it isn't good enought for your stimulus rebate and how there was no announcement made telling us that until after 6am PST this morning (Wed) and that they want to charge you a fee yet of $2 to talk to an operator. If we all get together we can make a difference. Enough of just shutting up and being pissed of...let's fight back! Everyone who has been taken in by this useless, almost impossible to reload card, c'mon. MAKE SOME NOISE OUT THERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The H %26amp; R Block Emerald Card Rip off / wanna raise some h---ll?
H%26amp;R Block has been saying for the past month even as yesterday that they were going to put the money on the emerald card even telling their agents that the money was going there and to tell the customers that it was going to be there!
It needs to get its act together.. charging to use the card for this and that ....and now .....a message saying that the stimulas is going to be on a paper check ..thanks for the warning .....just happened to call the number to get a balance on my card ....plfftttt is what i think of that ...... YOU AREN'T A SUCKER
Reply:H%26amp;R Block Emerald Card is very evil. They have jerked me around so much. I'm pretty much expecting to never see my stimulus rebate.
Reply:Settle down there cowboy! Nobody told you to get the RAC last year. That's why it can't be direct deposited. Because HSBC deposited your tax loan money on your card using their direct deposit number. If the Irs used that information from your return, it would go to an HSBC account. Not yours. No one knew the rebate bill would even pass at that time.
H and R block is not responsible - you are, you chose the refund anticipation loan thru hsbc. H and R block has their own Bank , its called h and r block Bank. I filed my own taxes last year online, I did them myself, but i still used my H and R block direct deposit number for my emerald card. I received my tax refund with no problem . I also got a letter from them last week saying they are going to direct deposit my rebate onto my card also. I didn't get a RAC. Sucker !!!!

#1 is my favourite. That's cute, and it took me a second so I liked it.
I guess I'd get #4 and #6 better if I were Chinese...
I've heard #3 and #5 before as blonde jokes and #7 about another ethnic group. But they're still cute jokes. Is there a tradition about using the name 'Ah Beng' for these kinds of jokes?

What would be appropriate names for a new private bus?
sidekick operator in Chennai to run the city routes without needing a license from the Government of TamilNadu, and enjoying tax break for a period of 5 years because it is
a) meeting a public demand that would not otherwise be met;
b) operating a transport service to serve the public;
c) creating competition for the old and useless public transport system that is currently plying city roads.
The Government should not interfere in the management or running of the new private bus operators apart from satisfying that the vehicles are only having FITNESS certificate.
Choices must reflect Tamil society and can be either Tamil or English names. (No Hindi names).

1. First, go to this web page to find out how to handle error-laden loops in BlueJ.
2. In Loop A above, the println statement comes before the value of count is incremented. What would happen if you reversed the order of these statements so that count was incremented before its value was printed? Would the loop still print the same values? Explain.
3. Consider the second loop, Loop B, above.
a. Trace this loop; that is, in a table show values for variables nextVal, sum and count at each iteration. As you work through the iterations by hand, update the values in the table everytime a variable's value changes. Whenever there is output, copy it into the next row in the OUTPUT column in the table. When evaluating a line of code (such as "sum=sum+nextVal"), use the table to determine what the current value of each of the variables is to determine the effect of the code.
nextVal sum count OUTPUT
b. Note that when the loop terminates, the number of even numbers added together before reaching the limit is count-1, not count. How could you modify the code so that when the loop terminates, the number of things added together is simply count?
4. Write a while loop that will print "I love computer science!!" 100 times. Is this loop count-controlled?
5. Add a counter to the third example loop, Loop C, above (the one that reads and sums integers input by the user). After the loop, print the number of integers read as well as the sum. Just note your changes on the example code. Is your loop now count-controlled?
6. The code below is supposed to print the integers from 10 to 1 backwards. What is wrong with it? (Hint: there are two problems!) Correct the code so it does the right thing.
7. count = 10;
8. while (count %26gt;= 0)
9. {
10. System.out.println(count);
11. count = count + 1;
12. }

Abstract Algebra?
Theorem: Let T be a linear operator on a finite-dimensional vector space such that the characteristic polynomial of T splits. Suppose that b is an eigenvalue of T with multiplicity m. Then dim(K_b) %26lt;= m.
Proof: Let W = K_b, and let h(t) be the characteristic polynomial of T_w. By theorem h(t) divides the characteristic polynomial of T, and by Theorem **, b is the only eigenvalue of T_w. Hence, h(t) = (-1)^d(t-b)^b, where d = dim(W), and d%26lt;=m.
Theorem ** : Let T be a linear operator on a vector space V, and let b be an eignevalue of T. Then
For any scalar c not equal to b, the restriction of T- cI to K_b is one-to-one.
Note: 'I' is the identity transformation. Also K_b is the generalized eigenspace of T corresponding to b.
What I need help on is on the the proof, I don't understand why is it that it can be concluded from theorem** that b is the ONLY eigenvalue of T_w, or even that it is an eigenvalue for that matter. If someone could explain, it would be helpful.
Abstract Algebra?
Suppose that b' ≠ b is another eigenvalue of T_w. Theorem (**) then asserts that T - b'I restricted to K_b is injective, which means that its kernel is {0}, so b' cannot be an eigenvalue (remember that an eigenspace is always ≠ {0}).
Regarding the second part of your question, b is, by hypothesis, an eigenvalue of T, so it's also an eigenvalue of T_w, because K_b is an invariant subspace for T.
Hope this helps.

I have two questions, which I think are harder then I think.
1) Let V be a finite-dimensional inner product space, and let T be a linear operator on V. Prove that if T is invertible, then T* is invertible and (T*)^-1 = (T^-1)*.
What I have done is:
TT^(-1) = I = T^(-1)T
Taking the adjoint of all the sides I get:
[T^(-1)]*t* = I* = I = T*[T^(-1)]; I'm using the property (TU)* = T*U*
Which then shows that T* is invertible and its easy to finish it off. But I'm wondering what I did is actually correct, b/c then it would be really easy, and I feel theres more to it.
2) For a linear operator T on an inner product space V, prove that T*T = T_0 implies T = T_0. Is the same result true if we assume that TT* = T_0?
And well this one I'm just having troubles with and really don't know how to do it, I thought of multiplying both sides by T^(-1) but I don't know whether T is invertible.
Help would be greatly appreciated =)
Abstract Algebra?
1. You did the hard work. I'd just make it a little clearer:
[T^(-1)]* T* = [T T^(-1) ]*= I* = I .
T* [T^(-1)]* = [T^(-1) T]*= I* = I .
Thus [T^(-1)]* is both a left and right inverse for T*.
2. I assume that T_0 is supposed to be the linear transformation that maps everything to 0.
If T*T = T_0, then for every x, 0 = x* T* T x = || Tx ||², so Tx=0.
Hence T = T_0.
If TT* = T_0, the same argument proves that T* = T_0. Question for you: does that imply that T = T_0?

T is a linear operator on the vector space V, find an ordered basis for the T-cyclic subspace generated by the vector z.
V = R^4, T(a, b, c, d) = (a + b, b - c, a + c, a+ d) and z = (1, 0, 0, 0)
Solution:
Let W be the T-cyclic subspace generated by z and β its basis.
W = {z, T(z), T²(z)....}
Therefore,
z = (1, 0, 0, 0)
T(z) = (1, 0, 1, 1)
T²(z) = (1, -1, 2, 2)
T³(z) = (0, -3, 3, 3)
T^4(z) = (-3, -6, 3, 3)
T^5(z) = -(-9, -9, 0, 0)
T^6(z) = (-18, -9, -9, -9)
T^7(z) = (-27, 0, -27, -27)
T^8(z) = (-27, -27, -54, -54)
So obviously they have begun to repeat as multiples of the first 7 elements in W. The back of th text says that β = {(1, 0, 0, 0), (1, 0, 1, 1), (1, -1, 2, 2)} which means that dim(W) = 3 but doesnt that necessarily mean that there should only be three coordinates being "used" in each of the points rather then 4? And how is it that you check that the basis will span W when I dont see a general way of expressing the elements in W?
Thank you
Abstract Algebra?
T^3(z) = 0 z -3 T(z) + 3 T^2(z)
So you can get T^3 form the first 3.
But that means you can get them all from the first 3!
T^4z = T T^3 z = 0 T(z) - 3 T^2(z) + 3 T^3 (z) =
- 3 T^2(z) + 3 ( -3 T(z) + 3 T^2(z)) = -9 T(z) + 6T^2(z)
etc. Each time apply T once more and reexpress T^3(z) using the first formula I showed.
All powers T^n(z) are linear combinations of z, T(z), and T^2(z), which is what you are supposed to prove.
Its a three dimensional subspace of a 4-dimensional space.

Hr block bad experience. can i go to another branch?
can i go to another branch? the branches seem independent of eachother, like mompop shops with the hr logo pasted on front. i get this impression because no matter what extension or number i try to call,i get an operator ready to connect me to a branch.it took 3.5 hrs to do a joint return, $417. with 2 schedule c's, i waited 1hour for another hr block associate to explain to my acct that a depreciation (on schedule c) goes only in the depreciation column and the FULL AMOUNT does not go into a category also. (eg. suppplies). i am now on my 3rd trip to revising a 1040x, the numbers are only off a dollar, BUT the part 2 explanation seems poor which reads " CLIENT REQUEST THE ROYALTIES BE REMOVED FROM THE SCHEDUEL E AND PUT ON SCHEDUEL C" yes schedule is spelled wrong twice. so can i go to another branch? call another number? was i wrong to explain what the royalties were for then later find that they need be self employment taxed and request 1040x ? does a new 1040 need be attached

I've talked to enrolled agents about Block. A few are with Block, but many leave there. But, by and large, Block is NOT a place to go if you need your income taxes done. You need an enrolled agent. If your return is complicated, look up an enrolled agent on the National Association of Enrolled Agents website. Click on "find an enrolled agent". Type in your city, town, State or zip. Enrolled Agents are professional tax practitioners who have technical expertise
in the field of taxation and are licensed to represent taxpayers at all administrative levels before the Internal Revenue Service. Moreover, Enrolled Agents are the only tax professionals who are required by the IRS to maintain their expertise through continuing professional education. Block has to vacate their boiler room. Firstly, the firm is not to print the SS# of the client on any of the Tax software they send out.
Secondly, they work with the IRS to cheat the taxpayer. This happened to me before I became familiar with the IRC, went to seminars, then passed the rigorous enrolled agent examination.
Reply:You can request another preparer (ask for a very experienced one) at the same office or, if they can't find you one, they will check in other offices nearby. Or you can just ask another preparer to do a review of your taxes. Talk to office manager anyway - she/he may come up with some other solution. If your tax preparer demonstrated incompetence and you complain, you can expect your tax prep fee to be reduced.
Reply:If I were you, I'd ditch H%26amp;R Block and go to a CPA. H%26amp;R does OK with straightforward stuff, but it sounds like your situation is really out of their league. Just going to another branch will very likely lead to a repeat of the situation unless you happen to get really lucky.
Reply:If you are not happy, go to another branch.
You generally report royalties in Part I of Schedule E (Form 1040), Supplemental Income and Loss. However, if you hold an operating oil, gas, or mineral interest or are in business as a self-employed writer, inventor, artist, etc., report your income and expenses on Schedule C.
Don't expect THEM to be happy though. H%26amp;R Block owns some of the branches, the others are franchised out to individual owners (they only get the use of the name, software and TV advertising).
So Momma Jones ain't gonna be too happy to clean up a mess made by Momma Mabel. Mabel already has all your money! Momma Jones will be working for FREE!
I did taxes for them several years ago. They gave us a 40 hour crash course ( a couple hours a day for about 20 days) and then called us experts. I'm sure that hasn't changed much.
Complain to the main office and they'll send you an apology and a coupon for $20 off next year's preparation fee.
The incorrect spelling will not affect your tax return.
Reply:why did you request to have royalties put on schedule C?
Reply:instead of going to the office you can go online at taxcut.com and do your own taxes with the same program that H %26amp; R Block uses and it wont cost you to file your return.
Reply:Ask for a senior tax pro to look at your return. Senior tax pros are usually very experienced and are often enrolled agents. Sorry you have had this difficulty, but call the office and ask for their most experienced senior tax pro.

Help!! bought a samsung sgh-i600 w/o contract. Cannot use the phone with HK SIM card. Why?
i used phone in singapore with my singtel prepaid card - ok
in hk, i get the csl network/ 3G but cannot call out or receive calls, or phone freezes.
i have tried without success:
a) change the operator settings - present choice: singtel, starhub, m1
b) called samsung support from hk
c) change a new csl international sim card
d) checked with the shop i bought the phone - refer me to samsung support
e) find help from forums on the net - no luck
Q: does singtel preset some settings on the phone they sell? if so, what number to call for assistance?
i am now in hk. thanks v v v v v much.

Answer math question = TEN points! (correct though)?
1. On Saturn, the inhabitants use the same mathematical operators that we do (+,-,etc), and they also use an operator @ that we do not know. Scientist have also determined that the following is true for any real numbers x and y:
x@0 = x
x@y = y@x
(x + 1)@y = (x@y) + y + 1
1. What is the value of 12@5?
a. 53 b.59 c.65 d.71 e.77
2. On a school trip to Saturn you must solve the equation 5@x = 17 in order to return to Earth. Under the same conditions as in the statement in question 1 above what is the value of x?
a.1 b.2 c.3 d.4 e.5
Answer math question = TEN points! (correct though)?
1
1@5 = 0@5 + 5 + 1 = 5@0 + 6 = 5 + 6 = 11
2@5 = 1@5 + 6 = 11 + 6 = 17
3@5 = 2@5 + 6 = 17 + 6 = 23
so n@5 = 5 + 6n, and 12@5 = 5 + 72 = 77
2
1@x = 0@x + x + 1 = x@0 + x + 1 = 2x + 1
2@x = 1@x + x + 1 = (2x + 1) + x + 1 = 3x + 2
looks like n@x = (n+1)x + n
so 5@x = 6x + 5 = 17, 6x = 12, x = 2
x@0 = x
x@y = y@x
(x + 1)@y = (x@y) + y + 1
1. What is the value of 12@5?

How did the idea of 911 Emergency come up? Was it one person's idea? What year was it first available?
I just know it must have been after 1980 b/c that's when I was born. What did people do b4 then. Dial the operator %26amp; the operator connected them to the police/fire dept?
How did the idea of 911 Emergency come up? Was it one person's idea? What year was it first available?
Wiki...
Reply:It started in the late 60's as an easy number to dial in order to call for help. Before that people had to call the operator or call the number for the police themselves. BTW, many countries us 999 instead of 911.
Reply:Before the dial telephone came into widespread usage, a caller simply picked up the telephone receiver and waited for the operator to answer "number please?" The caller then said "connect me to the police," "I want to report a fire," or "I need an ambulance/doctor." It was usually not necessary to ask for any of these services by number, even in a large city. Furthermore, the operator instantly knew the calling party's number even if he couldn't stay on the line by simply looking at the number above the line jack of the calling party.
In small towns, telephone operators frequently went the extra mile by making sure they knew the locations of local doctors, vets, law enforcement personnel, and even private citizens who were willing or able to help in an emergency. Frequently, the operator also activated the town's fire alarm.
When cities and towns began to convert to dial or, "automatic" telephone service, many people were concerned about the loss of the personalized service that had been provided by local operators. This problem was partially solved by telling people to dial "0" for the local assistance operator if they did not know the Fire or Police Department's full number.
Generations of school children were taught to "dial 0 in case of emergency," and this situation remained in place in some areas into the early 1980s. Now, children are taught to call 911.

Would you like a beware? Talent 6 Sucks!?
I am sooo pissed. I deleted my account a long time ago but they still let you on there with a profile for free, you just can't send emails. I got an offer for a job and couldn't respond so I decided to fork the 20 bucks again one more time. (The contact left no other way to reach him except through talent 6). When I tried over the weekend a pop up window appeared that said I would have to call talent 6 during regular business hours to re-activate my account. Later, I decided to back out on the deal and NEVER CALLED. My credit card to my surprise was charged however. I called the 800 number to tell them this and this operator told me I was lying that their pop ups never say that b/c as soon as you click the button to reactivate your account it automatically charges your card and reactivates your account. I know this isn't true b/c I remember being frustrated having to wait an entire weekend to respond to a message I received and I also distinctively remember what the pop up window said.
Would you like a beware? Talent 6 Sucks!?
Glad you figured it out but sorry it took all that to do it.

On actorsaccess it's free to set up an account but $2.00 to submit on each job electronically (nothing if you do it yourself through the mail). The best deal IF you live in an area where there are a lot of opportunities is to subscribe to Showfax $68 for the year which gives you free submissions for the year on AA and access to sides on Showfax. Really, it's the best deal around.
Backstage will let you search for free but to see the full casting notice you have to subscribe so I would search and see if they have anything in your area. If not, they still have good info online and no need to subscribe.
LAcasting - real casting info, but kinda pricey in my opinion. Many people use them and have a lot of success particularly with commercial castings. They just charge a LOT to change pictures, etc.
good luck,
Marianne

Reply:Dear Pranab Kumar Choudhury Saab, How long you want to be doing the same thing or job repetitively in life. Your job done so far for over 28 years has given you enough and more experience of people and taught you the life skills. There are so many in this world, just when you look around need your time for some hours in a day to get benefited by your voluntary participation. If you have got enough to make a comfortable living which is again relative to individuals needs, you can with your excellent CV be of immense value and help to the humanity at large. You can hone your skills further by undergoing some counselling courses or on life skills and be of some help to the underprivileged individuals. You can do a lot when you divert your mind from the same job you have done so far. You will, let me tell you, be highly benefited and lead a life full of achievements and satisfaction without expectations. Please think it over.
