How Hard is it to become anything on a film set?

I just want to get onto a motion picture set in any capacity, though I'd prefer to work in something related to the camera (camera operator, lighting, cinematography %26amp;c.) - How hard is it to get any job on set? How long will it take? what training is necessary?

Abstract Algebra Question please help!! Need help using groups and operators?

Let * be an operator defined on C (complex numbers) by letting (a * b) = |ab|

G2: There is an element e in G such that for all x element in G, we have: e*x = x*e = x (identity element e for * )

inorder for the top equation to be a group it has to satisfy G2, but i know it doesn't, now we need a proof that it doesn't,

| ab| is not just absolute, it is the magnitude, and not to forget this is the complex numbers. so something with (a1 +ia2).......

My question is can someone please please pleaseeeeee help me in writing it, you have to prove it in writing in as much details as possible.

No silly stupid questions, such as you wouldn't learn if you don't solve it your self. JUST IF YOU KNOW IT PLEASE HELP, I know the answer, but I never liked proofs ! pleaseeeeeee help any help is appreciated.

thank you very much. best answer would surely get all the points.

Abstract Algebra Question please help!! Need help using groups and operators?
Let a be any complex number which is not a nonnegative real number (a = -1 will do fine). Now, for any element e, a*e = |ae| is a nonnegative real number, thus not equal to a. So there is no element e such that a*e=e*a=a and thus no identity element for *. Q.E.D.

Outputting a result in the same box as the input?

I'm having difficulties with my celsius/fahrenheit converter in Java.. I need to output the result in either the celsius box or the fahrenheit box, whichever one they didn't put a number in...

the code is pretty long.. and it wont let me paste the whole code.. basically i'm using JFrames, a GUI and here's the part i think i'm having difficulty with...

private void calculate( char operator ) {

double Cel = (Double.parseDouble(jtfCel.getText().tri...

double Far = (Double.parseDouble(jtfFar.getText().tri...

double Celsius = 0;

double Fahrenheit = 0;

switch ( operator ) {

case 'C': Celsius = ((Far - 32)*(5/9));

break;

case 'F': Fahrenheit = ((9/5)*Cel+32);

break;

case 'L': Cel = 0; Far = 0;

break;

}

//set result in the textfields...

jtfFar.setText(String.valueOf(Fahrenheit...

jtfCel.setText(String.valueOf(Celsius));

}

OH also, how do u clear a textfield in Java?

Outputting a result in the same box as the input?
//set result in the textfields...

jtfFar.setText(String.valueOf(Fahrenhe...

jtfCel.setText(String.valueOf(Celsius)...

Only execute one of them, based on operator. The other one has the number the user entered, so you don't have to write it.

To clear a text field, set it to '' (two single quotes, no space between them).
Reply:Set two string variables to ""

Set the value of each for each text box

check if the variables are not equal to ""

If they are equal, then populate the other box.

Set the box that is not equal to a string value of that is ""

Biotechnology questions.?

Restriction enzymes recognize DNA sequences with -

A- Many C's/many G's

B- Parallel nature

C- Twofold dyad symmetry.

Genetic recombination ca occur in bacteria by all of the following EXCEPT

A- Transfer of DNA through pili

B- DNA amplification

C- Mutation

D- Transduction

And the last one is

Regulatory protiens shuto off transcription by ninding to a site directly in front of the promoter, this site is the

A- Suppressor site

B- Operator site

C Regulatory site

D- Transcriptional control site

Biotechnology questions.?
1. Restriction enzymes recognize DNA sequences with-

C-Twofold dyad symmetry. Restriction Enzymes generally recognize specific DNA sequences which are usually symmetric with respect to each side of the DNA strand

2. Genetic Recombination can occur in bacteria by all of the following EXCEPT

C-Mutation. Recombination implies a crossing over of chromosomes. This is possible in all but mutation.

3. Regulatory proteins shut off transcription by binding to....

A-Suppressor Sites. thats just where they bind i think.

i just need another operator for if-else statement is commonly used. our professor needs switch-case or conditional operator...

in C programming please

please.. help me?111!!

Help please?
The conditional operator resolves to one of two values depending on whether the condition is true. These could be nested, like so:

return (a %26gt;= 1 %26amp;%26amp; a %26lt;=15 ? 'B' :

(a %26gt;=16 %26amp;%26amp; a%26lt;=30 ? 'I' :

...

nest the rest of the statements

...

)); /* as many close parens as are necessary */

You would only ever do this to demonstrate that you can. If you did it on a job, your boss would laugh and take away your chair.

Which is the INCORRECT statement?

a. The expression abc+=25 adds 25 to the previous valueof the variable abc.

b. An expression in C is a combination of operators and operands that performs a computation.

c. The assignment operator, = , in C and the equal sign in mathematics are the same.

Which is the INCORRECT statement?
c. = in C is an assignment, but == is the comparison.

( in math, = means that one value is the other )
Reply:I know that the last one is wrong in C++ and C#, "=" is C++ and C# means assing to, while if you want to know if two numbers are equal you should use "==".

The second one is alright, but I am not sure about the first one, but i think it's right too. ( Ihaven't used C++ and C# for good amount of time, so I am little rusty on sime details)

Tokens?????

Which of the following is not a token?

a. In networking, a token refers to a series of bits that circulate on a token-ring network. When one of the systems on the network has the "token". it can send information to the other computers. Since therer is only one token for each token-rink network, only one computer at a time can send data.

b. In programming, a token is a single element of a programming language. Some example of programming tokens are reserved words, punctuation marks, and operators.

c. Those small copper coins that allow you to play video games.

d. In security systems, a token is a small card that displays an ID code which can be used to log into a network. The card user enters a password which causes the card to display the current ID needed to log into the network. The token adds an extra security level to the network because the IDs change every five minutes or so.

e. Both B and C.

Tokens?????
I'll give it a shot:

A) is a true statement in itself, but token are not limited to token-ring networks. btw, if your company still uses token-ring, please get out of the technology stone age :)

B) is a true and a false statement. In most high level program languages you can define your tokens to be anything you want. But it is true that reserves words and operators can be tokens.

C) is 100% true, ahh the good old days of arcade games at the mini golf place

D) I am assuming you are referring to a VPN (or VPN type) network. If you mean a physical security system, then you got me on this one. If VPN, then this is also true and false. On my company's FOB it does say Token-Generator for XXXX, but I have a client who's FOB calls it an IntelliKey. Go figure.

How is the memory representation of signed and unsigned no:s in C?

how operators can be used for both signed and unsigned no:s?

How is the memory representation of signed and unsigned no:s in C?
Singed integers are typically represented with two's complement representation. To represent a negative number, take the complement of the positive equivalent and add 1:

Consider these 8-bit numbers:

-18 = ~(00010010) + 1

= 11101101 + 1

= 11101110

Now if you want to subtract 18 from 23, you can simply use addition and two's complement:

23 = 00010111

-18 = 11101110

---------------------

5 = 00000101

Overflow is ignored.

Now, for floating point numbers, that's a whole different story.

5. The DNA codon TAC corresponds to which of the following amino acids? a) tyr b) met c) his d) ser e) asp.

Thats 5 out of 10 quest. I wont post all because it's not fair for someone else to do my work.I just need a little help.Thanks a million

Multiple Questions for Protein Synthesis Biology. I'm having a really tough time.?
OK, #1 has no answer because translation is the process of making protein from the mRNA strand, by which point the mRNA is fully processed. An intron is a section of DNA which is translated into mRNA but then removed during mRNA processing, so perhaps this is the answer you're looking for; it's the best one if you meant "transcription" instead of "translation"

#2 is tRNA; it stands for "transfer RNA" and is a covalent complex of a small piece of a particular sequence of RNA and an amino acid; the reaction is catalyzed by aminoacyl tRNA synthetase.

#3 is "b"; when lactose is present, the lac repressor fall off of the operator region so that polymerase can bind.

I'm not sure about #4, because endonucleases attack RNA from the middle rather than at either end, and there are a number of them. If you mean exonucleases, then "a" is the best answer.

for #5, TAC (which is 5' to 3') gets translated to GUA (since the RNA strand is antiparallel) and GUA codes for valine.

Suggest a solution of following program in C# language?

To reverse a five digit number entered by a user and check whether entered number and reversed number are equal or not using only printf/scanf/if else/conditional operators(no loops)

Suggest a solution of following program in C# language?
No one can do it. BCoz printf and scanf are not a valid functions in c#. Its better you change the question. This way you can find some answers as well

Hey everyone. Can some one help me with C programming?

I'm needing a little help with the switch statement.

I need to write a do while loop in order to find the factorial of a number, the number can only be odd, but if someone were to input a even number it needs to say that the input is invalid and ask again. I can get my program to ask and allow for one more input but another even number after that and it just calculates the factorial of the even number, I know why it does this I just don't know how to make it ask again.

Here is my code:

#include %26lt;stdio.h%26gt;

int main()

{

int a, r, f;

a=1;

printf("What is the number?\n");

scanf("%i", %26amp;f);

r=f%2;

switch(r){

case 0:

printf("Invalid number, try again.\n");

scanf("%i", %26amp;f);

default:

do{

a*=f;

f--;

}

while(f%26gt;0);

printf("%i", a);

break;

}

return 0;

}

I know the only reason it does it 1 time is because I don't have a break on case 0. I don't know how to reset the switch statement from the beginning. Such as if I wanted to make a code where you input operators and values to calculate.

Hey everyone. Can some one help me with C programming?
Rather than a switch statement, use a while-loop that will continue asking for an input until the input parameter meets your condition. THEN, after input is validated, calculate the factorial. There is no reason to place the input validation in the same loop as the factorial calculation; that's bad design.
Reply:put a "break;" after scanf("%i",%26amp;f); in the switch statement otherwise for case 0 it will continue into default
Reply:Create a while loop for your input section.

while your input in invalid, ask for input

exit the loop when the user gives you a valid input.

CHALLENGE OF THE DAY- WRITE THIS C++ program using only if statements and do while loops?

Write a program that prompts the user to enter a particular month (1-12). You will then prompt the user to enter what day of the week the month begins on (0 for sunday, 1 for monday, etc...). After these 2 pieces of input, your program will display all of the days of the particular month in a calendar format. You will have to use massive if-else statements to print the correct month name. You will utilize logical operators to determine the total number of days in the month.

30 days - April, June, September, November

31 days - January, March, May, July, August, October, December

28 days - Febuary (ignore leap years)

Your output must be formatted apprpiatly utilizing cout.width. You should use a loop to correctly print out the days of the month. Sample below:

Enter a month (1-12): _1_

Enter a starting day (0 for sunday, 1 for mon...): _3_

January

S M T W T F S

1 2 3 4

5 ...

Press any key to continue.

"What are you going to do with it?" asked the little boy.

"Put it on strawberries," answered the farmer

"You ought to live here," the little boy advised him. "We put sugar and cream on ours."

However, I am wondering how I can store the values of the numerator and denominator after an operation. I know you can store them when you multiple by saying something like:

new_numer = numer1 * numer2;

new_denom= denom1*denom2;

but what about when you're adding and subtracting fractions and the denominators aren't the same?

Fractions in C++?
numer1 *denom2 +/- numer2*denom1

-----------------------------

denom1*denom2

That's how you'd do it. Seems easy enough if you aren't reducing the fractions. Otherwise you'll have to do some factoring.

Create a C++ Program !!!help..coding pls?

1.Create a Class OprOverload.

2.Class OprOverload should have a:

2.1.Constructor

2.2.Destructor

2.3.Methods to overload +, -, /, * operators

3.Conditions

3.1.+ = - ( + sign mean subtraction)

For e.g. 6 + 3 = 3

3.2.- = + ( - sign means addition)

For e.g. 6 - 3 = 9

3.3./ = * ( / sign mean multiplication)

For e.g. 6 / 3 = 18

3.4.* = / ( * sign means division)

For e.g. 6 * 3 = 2

This is really straightforward basic stuff in programming.

If you need help to do something like this while studying for a profession, then you are aiming for the wrong profession and you should really consider studying for a different one.
Reply:LoL Exactly what Rawlyn said if we help you, you will never get anywhere in life.
Reply:I would tell ya, but when I was in school I got the answer from someone else, so I have no clue how to do it.
Reply:Do your own homework. If you're having difficulty, search the net for C++ tutorials and references. If you're still having difficulty then speak to your lecturer. But NEVER ask someone else to do the coding for you. You can guarantee you will never learn anything about coding that way. Even if you get the qualification at the end of the course, if you cheat like this all the way through it will be a worthless scrap of paper at the end of it. The saddest thing is, you're only fooling yourself.

Oh, and we know what the mathematical symbols mean thanks, we went to school too.

p.s. Oh my word! I've only just noticed that you haven't even taken the question numbers off your homework!!! That's just plain LAZY dude!!!

Write a C++ program?

You’ll need to use

* functions and parameters,

* the if command,

* The assignment and arithmetic operators

* Basic input and output

Design and implement a program that will accept up to twenty-five integers. You must include the following functions:

* An input function that fills the array

* A function that finds and displays the average of the even numbers in the collection.

* A function that finds and displays the average of the odd numbers in the collection.

Be sure to make the program easy to read and documented.

Question for C programmers?

Hi

This was the question asked in Adobe written test

1 Write a program to know whether a number is divisible by 3 we cant use / ,% or * operators .Hint was

use itoa function

2 How to reverse a singly linked list via recursion

Any IT gurus there who want to try their hand

3 How to know how many bits are required to make 2 nos equal

I mean say 8 in binary notation is 1000 and 10 is 1010 so the answer is 1 so for any 2 nos A and B given in decimal form write a program

I m more interested in getting answers for first 2

Question for C programmers?
One of the property of a number divisible by 3 is that its sum of digits will be also divisible by 3.

Suppose abcd is a 4 digit decimal number

abdc = 1000a + 100b + 10c + d = (999a + 99b + 9c) + (a + b + c + d)

Here the

999a + 99b + 99c

is divisible by 3. So if

a + b + c + d

is also divisible by three then the number is divisible by three.

int mod3(int number)

{

char *iter;

char *str = itoa(number);

while( *(str+1) != '\0' ) {

number = 0; iter = str;

while( *iter != '\0' ) {

number += (*iter - '0');

iter++;

}

str = itoa(number);

}

if ( (*str == '3') || (*str == '6') || (*str == '9') )

return 0;

return 1;

}

http://www.faqs.org/qa/qa-9150.html
Reply:answer 1.

this has very less efficiency. but works

while(num%26gt;0)

{

num=num-3;

}

if(num==0)

printf("Number is divisible by 3");

else

printf("Number is not divisible by 3");

answer 2.

struct node

{

int datal;

struct node *next;

};

void main()

{

struct node *head, dummy;

head = create(); // creating a linked list and

// assigning starting node to head

dummy = reverse(head,head);

}

struct node * reverse( struct node *p, struct node *head)

{

struct node *temp;

if(p-%26gt;next==NULL)

{

head = p;

return p;

}

temp=reverse(p-%26gt;next,head);

temp-%26gt;next = p;

p-%26gt;next = NULL;

return p;

}

answer 3:

Use xor operation on 2 operands.

then find out number of 1's in the number

//assuming number is of 32 bits

int a, b, res, i, sum,n=1;

scanf("%d%d",%26amp;a,%26amp;b);

res = a^b; // x-or operation

sum=0;

for(int i=0;i%26lt;32;i++)

{

if(res %26amp; n%26lt;%26lt;i)

sum++;

}

printf("The number of bits to be changed is %d", sum);
Reply:i only know the first one. I guess you'll have to use a for loop as follows

for( int i=x; i%26gt;=0; i-=3)

at the end of the loop, if i==0 then its divisable by 3 or else it isnt.
Reply:Answer 1.

/* without using itoa */

main(){ int i; scanf("%d",%26amp;i);

for(;i%26gt;=3;i-=3);

!i?printf("divisible")?printf(" not divisible");}

/* using itoa */

main(){ int i ,s=0; char a[30];

scanf("%d",%26amp;i);

/*add the digits till the summation is less than 10*/

do{ itoa(i,a,10);

for(i=0;a[i]!='\0';i++)

s=s+a[i]-'0';

i=s;s=0;

}while(i%26gt;=10);

itoa(i,a,10);

if((!strcmp("3",a) || (!strcmp("6",a) || (!strcmp("9",a))

printf("divisible..")

else printf("not divisible");

}
Reply:None of these questions are important. They are used in tests because they are small enough to allow an answer. The testers think that programmers who can give a neat sweet answer will be better than those who can't. I estimate that they will be right 20% of the time and wrong 80% of the time. Gurus who can rattle off a quick answer to these could be almost useless at producing commercially-viable user software, and vice versa.

It looks very reminiscent of the horrendous state of mathematics exams at Cambridge up until about 1914. The questions had degenerated into just icksy-tricksy things needing weird skills to answer, but it didn't produce mathematicians, and as a result English maths was DECADES behind Scotland and Europe, if not a century. It took Hardy and Littlewood to get the stupid system binned, and replaced with REAL mathematics. But I'm not a Hardy, and I can't see what to do about these clever-but-dumb programming tests.
Reply:1: Any numbers who's digits sum to a multiple of three is itself divisible by three.

2: Do a Google search for linked list algorithms - there is already plenty of information on this issue without me repeating it here.

3: Look into XOR...

Rawlyn.
Reply:The first one has already been answered.

The second could be answered as :

node * reverse(node * nd)

{

if(nd-%26gt;next==NULL)

return nd;

else

return (reverse(nd-%26gt;next)-%26gt;next=nd);

}

The third one is pretty simple.:

just take a XOR of the two no. and then count the no. of 1 in the result..

It is too simple and i am sleepy..so write the code yourself

C++ programming question... about the class Node and function overloading?

How to modify the class Node such that the add_node() and del_node() functions are overloaded as the operators, + and -, respectively.

pls show the codes in detail with comments where necessary.

Thank You. =D

C++ programming question... about the class Node and function overloading?
i dont think that wud be called overloading, anyways just overload the + and - operators as normal and then call on add_node() and del_node() in those functions
Reply:operator +(classname object1)

{

add(object1);

}

is the way u sud take.

C++ programming?

Can someone PLEASE explain to me how you go about overloading the following operators:

%26lt;%26lt;, %26gt;%26gt;, - (unary negation), +, -, [ ], *, ==, !=, and =.

C++ programming?
Operator overloading isn't hard but it is a fairly large and detailed area. It would be difficult to cover it here. It is best just to do a web search and read a couple of different tutorials that look helpful. If you then have specific questions they might be within a scope this Answer format could accommodate.

C++ whats wrong with my code?

I'm using boolean variables in conjunction with coditional operators to make a short sharp password program, but theres a problem with my script...its seems that despite the correct input, it selects the "Invalid password" condition...whats wrong?

#include %26lt;cstdlib%26gt;

#include %26lt;iostream%26gt;

#include %26lt;string%26gt;

using namespace std;

int main(int argc, char *argv[])

{

string password = "tong";

string result;

cout %26lt;%26lt; "Please enter password" %26lt;%26lt; endl;

cin %26gt;%26gt; password;

result = (password=="tong") ? "Access granted" : "Acess denied";

cout %26lt;%26lt; result %26lt;%26lt; endl;

system("PAUSE");

return EXIT_SUCCESS;

}

C++ whats wrong with my code?
First off, dont bother initially assigning password the "tong" value.

Second, instead of...

result = (password=="tong") ? "Access granted" : "Acess denied";

cout %26lt;%26lt; result %26lt;%26lt; endl;

try this...

if (password == "tong") { cout%26lt;%26lt;"Access Granted"; }

else { cout%26lt;%26lt;"Access Denied"; }

Might just be a problem of syntax.
Reply:Hi, your code is fine, although it's pointless to initialize password to something if you are going to change it afterwards. I tried it on a mac and it produces the expected behaviour. One thing I would try to debugg is to output in the screen the value of password by doing cout%26lt;%26lt;password%26lt;%26lt;endl;

If it doesn't work it could be a compiler problem in which case you might need to upgrade it. What operating system are you using?
Reply:don't initialize password

It worked fine for me...
Reply:You must use the compareTo method of string ..

result = (password.compareTo("tong") == 0) "Access granted" : "Access denied";

the string object not define an overload for operator == (const char*)

C program i need to print 1 to 100 without using loop(ex:while do while, for statements and condition (Ex :if

With out looping statements and condition operators.....

C program i need to print 1 to 100 without using loop(ex:while do while, for statements and condition (Ex :if
you can use go to statement for this, and ternary operator instead of if condition.

void main()

{

int i;

i=1;

loop:

printf("%d", i)

(i%26lt;100)? i++: return 0;

go to loop;

}
Reply:std::cout %26lt;%26lt; "1,2,3,....100"%26lt;%26lt;std::endl;

or

system("iota 1 100");

given two numbers.how can you find the biggest of the two,without using conditional statements,relational operarors or ternary operators

C programming?
The mathematical formula is:

max(a,b)= (a + b + |a-b|)/2

Basic things about C++.?

Like what its used for, basic operators, between operators, and what namespace, int main (), and #include %26lt;iostream%26gt; is for.

Reply:# include iostream.h

# include tells compier to include a libary

iostream.h is the main libary that contains

the std cin and cout libary basicly its a massive libary helps u write code easier

using this you can simple write cout %26gt;%26gt; "what ever"

and cin %26lt;%26lt; (A)

meaning lot easier

also there is windows.h

for example

#include windows.h

this libary allows you to simple write in a few lines and get a win 32 application rather than writing many class and draw function

int main()

declares the program should start runing that code when it loads

but for full detail look up dev C++ toutrials
Reply:Start with http://www.parashift.com/c++-faq-lite/, then go get the book C++ FAQ by Cline (there's a link at the above site). I HIGHLY recommend the book.

Write a C++ program that creates a class named Employee.?

It should be having the following data members

•Name//for employee name

•Experience// for employee’s experience in a particular organization

Class Employee should overload two operators; %26lt; and %26gt;

These operators should be used to find out the seniority of two employees (two employee class objects should be declared in main). After comparison it will display the employee name whose seniority is higher than the other's.

An employee has higher seniority if his/her experience is more than the other employee.

If the two employees has same experience, the name of both the employees should be displayed.

Write a C++ program that creates a class named Employee.?
it's been a while so my code will be rusty! also not compiled. but this is homework anyway, right? so you will learn some tricks by debugging my code. :)

class Employee

{

char Name[];

int Experience;

public:

Employee operator%26lt;(const Employee%26amp; a, const Employee%26amp; b) char *;

Employee operator%26gt;(const Employee%26amp; a, const Employee%26amp; b) cahr *;};

// define constructor

Employee::Employee operator%26lt;( Employee a, Employee b )

{

if (a.Experience %26lt; b. Experience) {

return a.Name;

}

}

or something like that! :)
