What do you think are the odds?

I have my passport but my bf doesn't yet. His birth cert. has his moms last name, but then they changed it a few months after his birth to his dads last name. Now ANY piece of ID my bf has, is under his dad's last name. We have to get all of this paperwork done to obtain his legal name change b/c it wasn't 100% done according to the gov's records. I wanted to go to the states for my b-day for one day of shopping. We both called Customs Canada on separate times and explained the situtation. The operator told me it was fine, and when my bf called the operator told him that info was all right to him, but it all depends on the US guard. Now my bf has a photocopy of his live birth with his dad's last name on it. It has all the info and includes both names of his parents. Now I figure with that info, what are our chances of being turned away?

What do you think are the odds?
not that much if you explain the situation and have the documents to prove it chances are theyll let you through.. its a plus if you can speak proper english.......
Reply:I think you should be fine! I got into Canada once without any form of id and they stopped us. It was all cool in the end:)
Reply:A birth certificate isn't good enough anymore. YOU have to have a valid PASSPORT to enter the country. And it takes 6 weeks to 2 months to get one, if, and that is if, ALL paperwork is approved and checks out to issue a Passport.

Odds are ZERO - that you can get in. Or 100% you will be turned away.
Reply:you may get it but will have to go through a lot of red tape. Probably 25%.
Reply:There are no such thing as chances. If God wills it, it will happen.
Reply:you should be fine
Reply:Get the drivers license to match all paperwork and you should be fine
Reply:i just got my passport 11 days after applying at the nearest post office
